 Utilitarian means "designed to be useful or practical rather than attractive." If an art object is utilitarian and the creator gave some thought to the way the object looks--a utilitarian art object.


The utilitarian series below were created by artists who considered their visual characteristics. 

Choose three images below. On the next blank space in your sketchbook record both the 
visual characteristics that create unity among each piece in the series (how are they similar?) and the characteristics that provide variety (how are they different?).

c)    Same size (use the same paper stencil) OR small, medium, and large (even steps)
